From the time I was little, I loved Shel Silverstein. I remember my mom reading stories out of A Light in the Attic to me and Tanner as she put us to bed in our bunkbed. There has not been a time in my life in which I haven’t cried reading The Giving Tree. I have grown to love writing in his style, and I want to share with you some of the poems that I have written. I made it my New Year’s resolution to become an artist, so I have started sketching pictures to go along with my poems.
If I had a spaceship,
I'd fly far away.
I'd sail past the moon,
Not knowing my way.
If I had a spaceship,
I'd take you with me.
We'd fly past the sun,
Oh the things we would see.
If I had a spaceship,
But you couldn't roam.
I'd sell that old spaceship,
Cause with you I'm home.
I don't have a spaceship,
But I get to have you.
I don't need a spaceship,
Because you make me fly too.
I'm sure that was written about your Aunt Jen. 😉 I love it! Post lots more!!!
ReplyDeleteYour mom and I loved Shel Siverstein as kids! I love reading his stories to my kids, too.
I love Shel too! And I think it best you stick with writing! Just kidding....maybe there is a budding artist in there!
ReplyDeleteLove You!
